Njegova kariera se je začela, ko je njegova mama na YouTube začela objavljati njegove video posnetke, tam pa ga je leta 2008 zasledil Scooter Braun, njegov kasnejši menedžer.
Scooter Braun je Justina Bieberja poslal v Atlanto, Georgia, kjer se je srečal s pevcem Usherjem. Kmalu so podpisali pogodbo skupaj s podjetjem Brauna in Usherja imenovanim Raymond-Braun Music Group, kasneje pa še z založbami L.A. Reid in Island Def Jam.
